Hi all,

Today I thought I'd share with you one of the KEY events of XIV's lore, the battle of Silvertear Lake and the exposure of Migardsomr's Aether of which he guarded being unleashed upon Eorzea.

What happens in this video?
10 years prior 1.0, The garleans assualted Silvertear lake with a fleet of gunships including their main weapon, the Garlean Flagship (some from the beta may have recognised the colossal airship), the battle dragged on and despite Midgardsomr being outnumbered, he managed to take down the Garlean Flagship, however perishing with it in return. With the seal underneath the lake now broken, and the Garleans now sensing something even more powerful than their forces can handle, decided to retreat back to Ala Mhigo.

Why did Midgardsomr protect the lake?
Midgardsomr, protected the seal which stopped a volatile amount of Aether being unleashed upon Eorzea. This very Aether is how the Beast tribes are now able to summon the Primals as the seal had broke after his death, throwing the Aetheryte energies out of whack, thus unleashing devastating amounts of Aetheryte charged crystal, turning the lake, once a lush land to and most of Mor Dhona into a crystaline wasteland.

Why were the Garleans after Midgardsomr?
It is believed they think they are preventing a catastrophic event, they believe the Twelve are nothing but a false salvation and the Primals are dangerous and to be stopped, or used against those who host the Echo, whch are also their enemy. They are strongly against the Eorzean Alliance, and it appears their society and technological advancement is far different to that of the Eorzean Alliance. It may well also be that they could have been after the Aether within Silvertear Lake to fuel their Magitek creations? Not much is known.

So now the Aether is out, what now?
The beastmen tribes throughout Eorzea, now have the resources to summon their native primals, beings they worship as gods, but they are anything but. Primals are a danger to Eorzea, perhaps even considered demons to most, but one thing is known for sure, they must be stopped or controlled to prevent the Eorzean Alliance from going weak before the Garlean Empires next cunning attack.
